If dirty, rinse tooth in milk holding it by the crown (not roots). If not available use water (few seconds only) or have patient suck it clean, and then put the tooth back in the socket. If the tooth cannot be replanted, wrap in Glad Wrap or place it in milk or in the patient's mouth inside the cheek. Visit us or another dental professional within 30 mins if possible.

There is recent information to suggest that replanting a tooth that has been knocked out can have longer term benefits than initially thought. If you are able to replant your tooth, it is wise to have a consultation to discuss the long term care of your tooth as soon as possible.
